Hello, Stefanie here again getting you to think outside of the box.
I am sure that you, like me fall into a scrapping rut, yes you know what you like and you can complete a page that has the main elements, the title, journaling, photo and pretty pieces. I love making pages that look like traditional paper layouts, because I was a paper scrapbooker for many years and I like it and feel that it looks like my style. Have you tried to make a white space/pretty clustered page? Or have you tried a pocket style page? Digital Scrapbook Ingredients has some lovely templates in store that will help you get started in a variety of different styles.
I used the same kit: Tough Guy collab by Digital Scrapbook Ingredients and Libby Pritchett, kept the photo and backgrounds the same and just played around with the styles.
This is my first page and I have to be honest my favourite. I love giving a lot of real estate on the page to the photo. This is a moment page, I don’t have much to say about it, my man child growing up and working now, so I can’t gush about him on the internet, but I love his affection for our cats and his gentle nature. It has his monogram and the date.
With this one I tried a more pocket style page, shaped the photo the same as the patterned papers and journaling cards and they add shape and structure to the design as well as adding colour and pattern. I still like the clean grid design, the hierarchy of element clusters and the way the eye moves throughout the page.
I made the photo smaller here and really tried a more clustered approach. I am not convinced that I pulled it off. This is a little like when I put together an outfit but don’t really feel comfortable that I rock it, and get few or no compliments. However when I feel happy in the way I look, I look more attractive and receive compliments and then will where that outfit again.
How about you, what style do you like, which style do you go back to time and again and will you try something different to stretch yourself with me?
