Digital Scrapbooking Journaling

Scrapbooking journaling is a great way to give your layouts a more personal and emotional touch! By writing about your pictures and giving some background information you can make your scrapbook designs complete! And more importantly, you can better preserve your family history.

A lot of scrappers do struggle with scrapbooking journaling though. It doesn’t come naturally to everyone and can be a quite difficult thing to do. Especially when you are making a lot of digital scrapbooking pages it can be hard to come up with new ideas every time.

Luckily there are some great tips to help you create journaling for your scrapbooking layouts!

    • eeA good start is to sum up some facts about your pictures. Who is in the picture, where is the picture taken, what is the date of the event and why is this picture so special? You can weave this into a little story or use bullets to keep separate lines.
    • You could combine them with some facts and place them in ‘strips’ on your layout for a great effect! js
    • Try to write little things during important events. Like writing down your holiday adventures or great jokes people make during a birthday party. And then when you are making your digital scrapbooking album, you can just use parts of these notes for your journaling.
    • Use text that other people wrote for or about you. Personal messages people wrote in your wedding album are a great example! Or how about letters or emails you received? And you could always ask someone close to write something about you or your family.
    • If you are really not good at writing or just want some extra inspiration you could try to find information about a certain topic. Find some info about your holiday destination or the history of your wedding location to include as journaling. Pieces of newspaper articles can be great too!

  • A great idea to add journaling to your scrapbooking pages is to use parts of lyrics or poems or scrapbooking quotes and sayings! Choose something that you love and that also relates to your pictures. This way you can make your pages much more personal without even writing text yourself!

So whether you write text yourself or use input from other people and whether you write whole stories or just a few lines, scrapbooking journaling is a great addition to your layouts!
