Hello again, Stefanie here to encourage you to add more of yourselves into your scrapbooks.
Have you ever wondered who else was born on the same day as you were? Wondered what was happening in the world around that time, what mattered to those around you, what filled the headlines?
My husband bought newspapers on the birth days of our children and then every few years later, he keeps these for them and to present to them on their 21st birthdays. My oldest’s newspaper’s headlines were dominated by and filled with news of Chris Hani’s death, which was big in South Africa, but probably made little news worldwide.
With the internet and google, it has never been easier to find out what happened on any particular day in history. I took up the challenge and googled my birthday, the 22nd of July 1966 and then created a layout that features some interesting snippets from that era, along with a baby photo of me, that I scanned in from slides my father took.
Go ahead and join me, you might well find out some interesting snippets about the world that you were born into. Life changes so quickly and what makes headlines today may be all but forgotten tomorrow, remember that as the authors of our families’ scrapbooks, our stories matter too, so get your stories told, scrapped and printed out.
For my layout I used Digital Scrapbook Ingredient’s kit Heart and Soul. Template is Stitched Grids by Scotty Girl Designs.
Stefanie, you inspired me to scrap my own birth date too!
