Hi there, Stefanie here. Hubby and I snuck away for the weekend and we walked around an old church in a small town about an hour’s drive from us.
He likes to read the tombstones and see how old people were. I take in the flowers and the serenity. I do wonder about these people, some of whom died really young. What were their lives like, what were their interests and what made them happy? I also love perusing second hand shops in these quaint towns. So many times I see things that were once treasures in someone’s home. That almost complete china set, obviously kept for Sunday best. The scrapbooker in me thinks if the children who easily got rid of their parents treasures even knew the stories behind them? Do I think my children will easily throw stuff away after I am gone, sure. But maybe not, if they know what I treasured, what I held close to my heart and the reasons for that. So go on now, I challenge you to tell those stories of your treasured collections and those items you have from generations past.
