Hi there! CT Member Kacy here with an inspiration post on using neutrals on a layout to make the colors of the elements, papers, or journaling cards POP.
I am one of those people who almost always scrapbooks with black and white photos (even in my Project Life albums) because when the colors in my photos clash with the colors in the kit I’m using, my layouts almost never look “right” to me. I loved the blues and yellows in the Just Be Happy kit and I love the contrast between the bright colors and the mostly white background here.
When working with kits with super-bright colors, I tend to start with an element or paper I really like and base the rest of my item choices from the kit on that one item. For this layout, I couldn’t decide between the pink flower or the green shamrock, so I used both colors.
On this layout, I wanted the photo to closely match the background paper I used, so I did a color overlay on the photo. I loved the bright colors and the fun patterns in the Life Captured April kit, so I couldn’t resist ignoring my 2-color rule this time.
I love how the colors pop off the page!
Link me up to your monochrome-ish layouts – I’d love to see them!
