Hybrid Owl Gift Box – a great gift idea!
Hi, team meber Juli here. We all have friends, family, or neighbors that go through tough times. There is nothing like an adorable handmade giftie to help brighten their day. I created this little owl pick me up box for a friend of mine who is going through a rough time right now.
Supplies: A Little Bit Quirky digital kit by Digital Scrapbook Ingredients, Digital box template by Kelleigh Ratzlaff Designs, Photoshop Elements, White Card stock, Color printer, Scissors, Butter knife, Ruler, Double stick tape, Foam Dots
To get started I selected a cute box template from the store at The Digital Press. Using the box template, I quickly placed the bright colored papers from A Little Bit Quirky Digital Kit in to each section of the box. I then placed my owl and my scaled down journal card on to a different canvas to make it easier to print. Here are what my sheets looked liked in Photoshop Elements before printing.
I used some sharp scissors to hand cut my box, my owl and the little card. The template provided the folding lines so I just used a butter knife and a ruler and scored all the lines where I needed to fold. That allowed me to quickly fold up the box and use some double stick tape to assemble.
Before adhering my owl to the box I gave him a little bend so that his middle would stick to the box where I adhered the foam dots and the wings would look like they were sticking out. Then I wrote my saying on the journal card and attached it with foam dots as well.
Now all I have to do is fill it up with some tea bags, some Hershey kisses, and a gift card to a local coffee shop and I’m all set to deliver an adorable pick me up gift to a good friend!
Super cute!
This is so cute….I really love the way you used multiple papers for the box.
What a great tutorial! I love the owl!
