Hello everyone.
February is already drawing to a close, can you believe it? As it does, I am reminded of just how many LOVE themed kits I have seen (and snagged, lol) this month. I will admit, I love those kits, but I do struggle to use them sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, I am happily married to my best friend. We have been together for over 16 years now, and I am still glad I married him (well, most days, J ). But we are not overly mushy, and to be perfectly honest, there are only so many lovey-dovey pages I can make about him, or our marriage, before he starts to get a little too confident in just how ‘romantic’ he is, (he he). So, that got me asking the question: how can I use these beautiful LOVE themed kits in other ways, so that I can utilize all that gorgeousness throughout the year? I decided to look through the gallery for some ideas and inspiration. I found some great ones too! I want to share them with you here, because I really think I can’t be the only one who has this problem during and needs a little inspiration!!
Before I do that though – I will share one lovey-dovey page I DID make for my sweet fellow! I mentioned in an earlier post that I make physical pocket books for my kids, well I decided to make a small one for my hubby too. Let’s face it, we all need a little pick me up now and then. And right now, my husband is a very busy guy with work and school (he is working on his PhD), so I try to make some pages now and then to give him that tell him how proud I am of his hard work, how much I love him, and just to generally encourage him during this difficult stage of his career. (OK, so we are a wee bit lovey-dovey sometimes!!)
I made this simple page using the Get Festive Valentine Bundle and a selfie we took a few months back just for fun. He loves this picture, so it seemed like a good one to play with. I have a companion page with journaling, but I will save you all the mushy stuff!
So, now to look at what else we can do with these beautiful LOVE kits. Well, the obvious answer is to turn to other ‘loves’ in our life, not just the romantic kind.
The first thing that comes to my mind is family! Most of us love our family, or at least one person in our family, so this is a safe place to start.
This beautiful page by sugirox is a great example of highlighting your love for one particular family member (or anyone you are close to really).
This page by suladesign is another beautiful sample of documenting our love for our children.
This page by cindys732003 ( I sure love to see designers scrap) takes that a step farther and includes the entire family.
I had to include one of these in my own little hybrid book.
This one by lingovise just makes me so happy, because it is all about loving yourself! As mothers, wives, friends, or just people who care for others, we sometimes forget to show that same love and tenderness to ourselves – and I really like the reminder to tell our own hearts how very LOVED we are. Why not use a LOVE theme kit to give yourself a little pep talk and really dwell in the idea of loving yourself completely (I know, that is a hard one, but oh so important!!)
What about a PLACE we love – or a place that brings back memories of being LOVED. That is the idea I discovered with this page by kim517. There are just certain memories, and places, that remind me of love and I LOVE those places for it. Documenting those places would be an awesome tribute to those memories.
And then perhaps there are specific activities, or events and memories that we closely connect to someone or something we love. I don’t know if that is what Angel Jet had in mind when she made this beautiful page about her daughter, but it is what immediately came to mind for me while I enjoyed her artistry.
Then I also found several beautiful pages that did not use a LOVE themed kit, but the subjects of the pages would very easily be conveyed with a love themed kit.
This one by tassiegirl highlights a certain fur-baby. We all know how much love can go into the care of our fuzzy family members.
MamaBee highlights her love for a certain season in this one.
While mrsashbaugh reminisces about a someone she loved very much, but that has now passed away.
And lately I have been into All About Me pages to document myself for my kids, so this one, sharing a list of various loves that jumbbumble has in life, really caught my attention.
So now my idea hat is brimming with inspiration for more pages to make. I hope you were able to find some new ideas and inspiration for using the Love and Valentines kits for additional pages as well, therefore allowing you to enjoy those beautiful collections a little bit longer. If you have any ideas you want to add, share them in the comments below, and thanks in advance!
Keep on scrapping!
Thanks for mentioning my page Let’s Float Away! Beautiful layouts are in this post!
